Abstracts are invited on any aspect of the assessment of health professionals and the evaluation of programmes across the continuum from undergraduate through postgraduate education to continuing professional development.

 
How to submit

  • Go to: https://app.smartsubmissions.io/AMEE/Ottawa2022/MySubmissions
    Enter your email and choose a password to set up an account.

  • Click on the appropriate button on the left of the screen to start creating your abstract - maximum 350 words for all types

  • Click ‘next’ or ‘previous’ to move between pages

  • Everyone listed must have an affiliation (institution, city, country), and each abstract must have a presenter

  • Select the ‘track’ that most appropriately fits your abstract. Refer to the downloadable pdf Abstract Tracks for more information on what each track or sub-track relates to

  • If submitting an oral presentation or ePoster you can choose your preferred format or select ‘either’ if you allow the organisers to decide

  • If you wish to present in Lyon please choose this option. If you wish to present remotely choose the region in which you wish to present so this matches with your own time zone*

  • Review the summary and click on submit. You can edit up until the submission deadline

  • You should receive an email confirming your submission and whether you have elected to present in Lyon or remotely. If not, please check your junk mail before contacting conferences@amee.org

 

*Note: All presentations will be live. If you are submitting a preconference workshop or conference workshop for remote presentation that involves presenters from different regions, please select on the submission form the most appropriate region in which the presentation should be scheduled to suit presenters’ time zones
 

Formats and submission dates

All abstracts (except preconference workshops) will be selected for presentation on Saturday 27 or Sunday 28 August.

 
When submitting abstracts you have the option to select to present in Lyon (all formats), or in one of three regional time zones (some formats). All presenters of accepted abstracts must register and pay to attend Ottawa 2022 either in Lyon if a face-to-face presentation is offered, or online if an online presentation is offered.

Preconference workshop - present in Lyon or online

3-hour interactive ‘Masterclass’ session, intended to give practical tips on a topical issue in assessment or evaluation, and suggestions for implementation in participants’ own context. The level at which the workshop is set should be clearly indicated to allow participants to decide if it is appropriate for them. Free registration given to one presenter.

Conference workshop - present in Lyon or online

90 minute interactive workshop on an aspect of assessment or evaluation. The level at which the workshop is set should be clearly indicated to allow participants to decide if it is appropriate for them.

Symposium - present in Lyon or online

90 minute session on a theme of topical interest or debate in assessment or evaluation. Presentations from panellists to take no more than 45 minutes, with remaining time for discussion; maximum 5 panellists one of whom should be moderator.

Abstract format (350 words): title, background, why the topic is important, format including plans to engage participants, take-home messages, track selection

Oral presentation - present in Lyon or online

10 minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Up to 6 presentations in a themed session of 90 minutes.

Abstract format (350 words):  title, background, summary of work, summary of results, discussion and conclusion, take-home messages, track selection

ePoster - present in Lyon (some limited opportunities to present online)

3 minute introduction to the poster followed by 3 minutes for questions and discussion. Up to 15 presentations in a themed session of 90 minutes. All ePosters are hosted in the ePoster Showcase on the Kubify platform and can be viewed at any time by conference participants. Some ePosters will be selected for live presentation.

Note: presenters may opt to be considered for oral presentation only, ePoster only, or either format, as space permits.

 

Round Table Discussion – present in Lyon only

Exploration of a specific topic of current interest in health professions assessment. The abstract submitter will be the presenter/chairperson and will introduce her/his perspective of the topic in 5 minutes and then invite others attending to contribute to the discussion that follows, to pool expertise. These are participatory sessions where all are expected to contribute.
